Dani Hartwigsen
The Crunchy (and wormy) Biologist
I am a Dutch graduate student living it up in rural Northern California. I found my way here during a quarter-life crisis induced by post-undergrad uncertainty. My undergraduate work was centered around International Tourism Management and Consultancy. Although travelling is what I love to do most in the world – aside maybe from snuggling up on a couch watching nature documentaries with a warm cup of tea and my snuggleable husband- I realized it was not a viable career option for me. Luckily, the crisis took me all over the world and eventually lead me to the United States where I found the courage to pursue science instead. After finding my footing at Butte College and working as a Fisheries Biologist for a while, I finally found my way to graduate school at CSU Chico.
When I am not working on my research project, you can find me in my garden tending to my next batch of pickled jalapenos, petting all the neighborhood cats, or – more likely – somewhere up a mountain or in a river enjoying the fresh air.
